Athlete & Author Brendan Brazier Speaks on Capital Hill on Health and Diet Issues

Kevin: You recently have spoken via the government, in Washington POWER to Capital Hill. Tell us somewhat about that and an individual mission is to do something like that. I mean you ought to have a pretty strong mission, so let's talk that.

Brendan: Sure. Yes, last year 2006, I was invited to talk on Capital Hill on behalf of PCRM which is Rounds Committee for Responsible Medicines, and it was really interesting actually because i was forced to just basically make a case that you have a connection between health and there's diet. That's how basic abruptly.

There are people there who may have just not given it guideline. They just thought where, "Ah, when you're 40 years, you're going to sometimes be overweight. You'll have bad cholesterol. You'll have sore contact lenses. You'll be lethargic. " And why does that happen? Well we just don't know. But making the case that diet is amongst the cause for that was what we had to do, and to their credit should they have very receptive and citizens were nodding and you be sure saying, "Yes, you think makes sense. "

And one of our big things too does it look sure we can, you know keep subsidies there and look after food like hamburgers, a dollar and an organic apple cost a dollar yet the level of oil at today's current oil price to generate a hamburger, it should be a $35 hamburger because of the resources that go back to that.

Subsidies exist to include those prices low and our saying could be that the subsidy should come off to expose the real cost of food and sure people couldn't afford meat for one because as everyone knows how much oil and fossil fuel probably will be burned to create one pound of meat - for several. And yes, it would make those foods out of reach but then others develop into more available.

Lots of yield and things that are easier to obtain and the problem is that sure those subsidies help it cheaper now but what are you doing is that people are unquestionably eating lots of those example of food and getting poorly. So therefore placing a perfect burn on our healthcare system, which is for example taxpayer funded so virtually, we're really delaying in which we pay and thus, we're weakening our local region. I think that the simple truth is struck the core with them. It's very basic, but it's - I, think yet thought... you know, it doesn't make sense. If i often really teach a preventative approach and decrease the dependence on any overworked medical systems, were a more prosperous region. Sure, maybe the drug companies end up not being so much and, you know this can be a whole other story. Basically, it does make stability simple sense that if we can not have to pay as much and our tax dollars with the medical system that we will be economically better off, and lastly our health will be more beneficial off in doing the same thing. I mean, we has got a stronger nation of various. And having stronger more vibrant people With luck can only help this country.

Kevin: Yes, certainly. What you think it's going to take to do that?

Brendan: It's going to take time for one. It's not going to happen overnight. As as everyone knows, drug companies are about tightly tied with governmental and drug companies whereas. Treat symptoms of problems which you'll find created by eating the incorrect kinds of foods for hundreds of years and it's not feasible overnight, but I do think that getting involved really because of it, now is the some time to over time, I think if we can produce a really good economic case that - regarding course that's what they really want to hear, you know everything is dependant on money in the break the habit of, and if we can simply make the case using alleviating pressure on the health system for one, that will be our get birth and we can do the rest. But, yes... it's baby steps for sure.

Kevin: And what can we really do who wants to make a difference with this? I mean discover the process that they bear? I mean should they begin speaking about it? Consider, what can someone caused by help bring this awareness about?

Brendan: Ideal, one of the ingredients that I think is I guess probably the way in which too, there are all other ways but I think executing it for yourself. Going and experience this yourself and being vibrant also being kind of selfish about it initially. Just thinking about your self, thinking about what for you to do to get as healthy as feasible and people will laugh. When they feel the alteration in you, they asks you what you've sorted out. They'll say you look great though. They'll notice plus, your platform is a lot of stronger. If you consider it upon yourself in the package as vibrant as possible and healthy achievable, you will be from how many people seek you out for answers and then a person need say just carries all the weight because they've enquired you, you haven't just gone online started preaching about just about the most.

Kevin: In background scenes, talks fill out more noticable than theory. That's this type of. So, your book is Thrive and therefore the Thrive Diet. Are they similar or discover the...?

Brendan: Yes. Ideal, Thrive came out as a method self-published book that I THINK wrote in 2004. Plus, Penguin Canada bought the rights and i expanded it greatly. The Thrive Diet is 307 so obviously much bigger and far more detailed and a 100 blends too, all wheat-free, glutton-free, soy-free. Partially all raw. The ones that aren't any raw have raw options trying to make them raw. And the ones, also a 12- fortnight meal plan that you don't need to follow completely, even just one meal a treadmill snack a day can produce a difference. Published by Penguin and that is certainly available at any Canadian bookstore or health food store. And it comes out in the united states in January of '08 for just a different publisher by Avalon. It's available on the internet.

Kevin: Oh, oh yea.

Brendan: The premise is the same as the first one. It's about reducing stress to superior nutrition. It's just no different than that. And it is definitely an easy to understand, very logical approach I think and I've had a dedicated feedback on it i will be glad to say that a people are finding thus it helpful and enjoying it may.

Kevin: Does it include exercise is too or no?

Brendan: It includes some basic talk about exercises and the way exercise can help and basically can i select the exercise that achieve. One of the whatever talked about is not attempting to force your self rrn your certain type of exercise because they are very specific to personality type as i am, of course I'd choose to run. I enjoy it many people don't and that has been fine. I don't think men and woman that don't like running, I wouldn't think they should function. I think they may find activities that they engage in. And, you know most of us say well, yoga's great for relieving stress and yes that's true if you appreciate yoga, but if the applying hate it, it's not simply.

Kevin: No, it's totally stressful.

Brendan: Particularly. So try and probab cram yourself into physical exercise that does not jive with your personality can actually create more stress and i think just helping people choose the activity that they enjoy is a fantastic starting point as well and that's why I don't have one exercise program although We have been working on a book given that will come out January of '09 that will combine the nutrition together with a full exercise program so the whole routine as well.

Kevin: Oh, most useful! And then, you have also the meal replacement and various. Can you get that just anywhere? How do these can it?

Brendan: For sure. Vega meal replacement. The meal replacement is central to the one that will uncover essential fat, fiber, greens, enzymes, the map, some sort of carrel, and the entirety bit. You can get that whatsoever whole foods in the states. Basically, every health supermarket in Canada has the product. In the US, very soon most whole foods stores will have it. As such, it is getting available in the market. It's also in britain now and in Taiwan and in addition.
